The Disappearing Act

The satellite channel Baghdad, IIP's TV channel is reporting that one of its own has disappeared inside of the Ministry of Health.
The Director General of the Diyala Health Directorate, a member of the Sunni Tawafuq bloc, was invited for an interview with the Minister of Health, as a possible Deputy Minister candidate. En route, before he reached the Minister, Dr. Ali al Mahdawi disappeared along with his Chief of Staff. Inside the Ministry. They have been missing for two days now.
The Ministry of Health is known as a 'Sadrist' ministry, with the minister and many of the employees followers of Muqtada al Sadr.

Only in Iraq.

You have a great blog, I really like it. I am going to start another blog so that others from Palestine and Iraq can share thoughts about what is going on with them and what they think. If you know anybody that might be intersted have them email me. You will find my email in my profile. Keep it up. Like what you say.

Thanks, Chet. You bring up a great topic, because there are sooo many similiarities between the situation here and that in Palestine. I don't know if people realize that. I started seeing that from Laila's website: www.a-mother-from-gaza.blogspot.com, which i'm sure you visit.

Yes fatima,I try and go their everyday to hear what she has to say. I don't post much there but do pay attention to what she has to say. This other blog that I am starting was from visiting her and a comment I got from one of my readers which I posted. If governments can't bring peace, then I think it is up to us. I know it won't be easy.

Chet,
I'm not that familiar with other palestinian blogs, but for iraqi blogs, go to: www.iraqiblogcount.blogspot.com, there's a huge number there. Some of the ones i read: baghdadtreasure.blogspot.com, riverbendblog.blogspot.com, truth-about-iraqis.blogspot.com, amongst many other good ones. Good luck with your plans.

I know it's not funny, but your knowledge that your news channel is run by the IIP somehow brings a chuckle to my mouth every time I see you mention it. (I've found a story today that must have been written by them, or one of their sister agencies, on Yahoo News U.K.: I have it up on my blog)

Thank you so so much for your link to a-mother-from-gaza. It's extraordinarily difficult to get firsthand factual information from palestine, even from Aid groups, so thank you thank you thank you.

It's funny (well, not funny at all except in the rueful laugh Orwellian kind of funny) that, just this week, western news is claiming that Iraqis are Optimistic (I am not making this up) about the security situation. Meanwhile, Martial Law has been instituted in Baghdad.

Will the news agencies ever stop lying to us?

Bush has as much control over the media in the states as Hitler had in germany in the 1930s. It's distressing.

Misneach and Chet,
Another good site that analyzes alot of the news from Palestine and Iraq is: www.myoccupation.blogspot.com.
Misneach, she's on your anti-torture blog role, and she has links to other Palestinian blogs. btw: IIP is Iraqi Islamic Party, is that what you were referring to?

sorry fatima, I was actually referring to the U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Information Programs, which supplies U.S. propaganda (as news) to foreign media sources. Sorry I got the wires crossed...
